TRAVELLING AND ARRIVING

The Breakfast Club

In the film, The Breakfast Club, the director uses the different mode of transports to get the protagonist from their home to school. The mode of transport presented reflected on the students background. Claire (the princess) arrives in a BMW, which shows that she comes from a wealthy background, a few others come in cars but of different styles, the jock arrives in a big station wagon, the nerd arrives in family car, that is small, as there are 3 people seated in the front so you know .

1) First one to arrive, in an expensive looking car, so instantly we know they are wealthy.

2) The family car. Not so wealthy, three people are crammed into the front seat. This is mostly everyone in school, your not poor but your not rich your just getting by your life.

3) The jock. gets dropped off by dad, who has little pep talk with him. Arrives in a truck, shows he has a good job.

4) The rebel.Doesn't come with parents or any form of transport, just simmply walks. If it was a more modern film, i think he would have travelled by bus, bike or scooter as not many people walk to school now a days.
5) The outsider, is dressed in baggy clothes, gets dropped off straight away no interaction with parents. Battered car, gives off message things are not well also the fact that she was left hanging when she went to say good bye, shows a broken family/background.
